You are 3 months already! Your dad and I were trying to remember what the first and the second months were like... I don't want to go over every detail, but we remembered being worried about your weight - you were in the 3rd percentile when you came out... early. I had a hard time breastfeeding you, because you wouldn't latch on properly and it would hurt so much! I used a plastic nipple shield to protect myself from your voracious eating ;) Now you don't need it anymore, you are such a big boy!
We had to feed you from a bottle and from a "finger feeding "tube. We worried that the tape we used to attach the feeding tube to our finger was starting to poison you because we used it so much. We took you to a place called "Day one" where we could weigh you every Sunday. That lasted three weeks, then we stopped because you had put on weight regularly. Now you are more than 12 lbs, when other babies are around 15 at your age. Who cares though! You are waking up and screaming to be fed, no more waking you up every 3 hours! You aren't sleeping through the night yet, but I only have to wake up once at 4 am.
Here's a list of what you like and hate!
You like
- The mobile and the book in black and white
- The 2 books the caterpillar and ABC by Eric Carle
- Pushing up on your feet, and standing - your face lights up, and your eyes ziden in concentration
- Widening your eyes - big marbles that take in everything around you - sounds, lights, objects, contrasts, smiles, faces, toys, pictures, the TV (one other thing you love)
- Watching you grandparents and family on skype
- Sucking on your hands - you haven't chosen yet!
- Smiling at anyone who smiles and coos at you
- Watching your parents' puppet show
- Being in the stroller
You hate:
- Going to sleep! You hate being sleepy, and being put to bed, falling asleep and waking up!
- Getting our of the bath
- Being put in the stroller seat
- Being lied down and fussed over (changed into new clothes, or put into the swaddle)
What else? You startle at fast movements and sudden noises now. When the light is too bright for you you fight it off by batting your eyes fast and furiously, shaking your head too. You've jsut discovered your hands and your feet, and although you use them to suck and soothe, or to rub your eyes when tired, you still don't understand what they're for!
You are very charming, smiling at everyone and being a good baby most of the time.
We're going to Canada to meet your family in two weeks, I can't wait!
